Save percentage laggards and leaders.

Peter Mannino has been recalled to replace the injured Joey MacDonald.

I'm sure that Mannino would like to get into a game, and get himself out of the record books.

Mannino played the final 10 minutes in Boston and emerged with the worst save percentage of all-time ( 5 saves/8 shots = .625) -- including only players whose entire NHL career came after save percentage became an official stat.

Ironically, there are two other Islander connections to historical save percentages:

Of goalies who have appeared in at least 10 games, who has the worst save percentage of all-time?  Islander coach Scott Gordon (.829)
Of goalies who have appeared in at least 10 games, who has the best save percentage of all-time?  Yann Danis (tied with three others at .922)

Mannino's GAA is 13.81  -- only three goalies in NHL history have a higher goals against.

Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since 1982.
