Sound Tigers surge

While everyone has been paying attention to Bill Guerin, the Isles' minor league team swept to three straight wins. THe Sound Tigers beat Philly on Friday and then swept Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a home and home.

The Sound Tigers have earned a point in 11 straight games (8 wins, 3 shootout losses), and begin a stretch of 4 home games in 6 days on Tuesday.

Bridgeport's record (36-17-3-5; the AHL separates OT losses from shootout losses) is almost exactly the opposite of the Isles record (19-36-7). Bridgeport has five 15-goal scorers, led by Mike Iggulden (23-34-57). The Sound Tigers are in 2nd place in both the Eastern Division and Eastern Conference -- 4 points behind Hershey and two points ahead of Wilkes Barre.

Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since 1982.
