League news: Rangers waive Avery

It looks like Sean Avery's second run on Broadway is over.  Various reports are indicating that he will be placed on waivers as of noon today.

Avery is entering the final year of a 4-year contract that he signed with Dallas.  The Stars are actually paying half of his contract, leaving the Rangers responsible for the other $1,937,500 of cap hit.  Avery is 31, so if he clears waivers he can be assigned to Connecticut and the cap hit would disappear.  Avery's agent also mentioned that Europe is a possibility.
