Tavares:Chasing Sidney...and Kovy

John Tavares will look to extend his point streak to 12 games on Saturday when the Isles host Carolina.  It would be the longest streak in the NHL this season -- David Krejci is the only other player in the NHL to have an 11-game streak this season.

Only 2 players had streaks of at least 12 games last season:
Sidney Crosby had a 25-game point streak before the Islanders stopped it in late December.  Crosby went an incredible 26-24-50 in those 25 games.
Ilya Kovalhuk had a 12-game streak for New Jersey from February 1-February 25th, going 7-7-14 in the streak.

Six different players (Perry-Stamkos-Connolly-Malkin-Kesler-Burrows) had streaks of at least 12 games in 2009-10, with Perry's 19-gamer topping the list.
