Sound Tigers Sweep AHL Awards: Cizikas, Poulin honored

Coming on the heels of John Tavares being named the NHL's First Star of the Month, two Islander prospects won AHL Awards today.

Casey Cizikas is the AHL Player of the Month.  He had 8 goals and 10 assists in 11 games, while registering a +14.  Like Tavares, he also scored a goal in his league's all-star game.

Kevin Poulin is the AHL Goalie of the Month.  He was 6-0-1 with a 1.52 GAA, a 94.9 save percentage and three consecutive shutouts in the AHL.  He also put together nearly 100 scoreless minutes in two starts (1-1-0) for the Isles this month.

The Sound Tigers have risen from worst to First in the Northeast Division, holding a two-point lead over the Connecticut Whale.  It's going to be a real scramble in the AHL East this season.  Only one team is below "AHL .500" and ten points separate 4th place and 15th place (last) in the conference.
