It Happened at the Coliseum … on NOVEMBER 5th

26 years ago tonight (1988) – Eighteen months earlier, it had taken Pat Lafontaine until the middle of the night to score an overtime goal to beat Washington.  On this night, it took just 10 seconds; Patty scored the winner in the shortest overtime game in Islander history as the Isles beat the Caps 4-3.  Bryan Trottier, David Volek and Randy Wood had the other goals for the Isles as they earned a split of the home-and-home series.

Also on this date: (1983) – Billy Smith made 25 saves as the Isles blanked Buffalo 4-0. John Tonelli had a goal and two assists.

All-time, the Isles have played ten November 5th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 4-3-3 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
