Isles 4, Winnipeg 2
John Tavares scored a goal and added two assists for his 33rd career 3+ point game as the Isles defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 before a crowd of 11,183 at Barclays Center.  It's the first win of the season for the Islanders and their first in their brand new home.

The Skinny
Thomas Greiss made 22 saves to record his first win as an Islander…Strome's goal gave the Isles their first lead of the season…Both Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey recorded 7 shots on goal; it tied a career high for Bailey, and was one shy of a career high for Nelson…Strome's power play goal was the Isles first since April 7th in Philadelphia; they had gone 11 games (4 regular season and 7 playoff games) without a power play goal….The Isles have scored two power play goals in each of their last three games against Winnipeg.

The Penalty Shot
John Tavares was stopped on a penalty shot with 2:15 to play in the game.  It was the second penalty shot, both unsuccessful of his career.  It was the Isles' 4th penalty shot against the Jets franchise; Michael Grabner in 2012 was the only one to score—the only Isles successful penalty shot at home in the last 15 years.

Flatbush's Finest
John Tavares, who scored the Isles' first-ever regular season goal at Barclay's Center on Friday, had the Isles' first penalty shot and first game-winning goal in this building today.

Winnipeg is 2-1-0 overall; 0-0-0 at home and 2-1-0 on the road.  The Jets will play the Rangers on Tuesday before returning to Winnipeg for their home opener on Friday vs. Calgary.

Jack Capuano is the 2nd winningest coach in Islander history. Capuano is 166-149-47 behind the Islander bench. Among the 9 New York teams, only the Giants' Tom Coughlin and the Yankees' Joe Girardi have led their respective teams longer than Capuano.

Taylor Beck, acquired from Toronto in the Michael Grabner deal is 2-1-3 and +6 through two games while goalies Christopher Gibson and Stephon Williams each own a win in which they allowed only one goal.  Bridgeport hosts Springfield on Tuesday.
