Cizikas' goal is earliest ever in Isles 1-0 win

It took a little digging to confirm, but Casey Cizikas' goal at 1:59 of the first period tonight was the earliest in any of the 19 1-0 wins in Isles history.

In fact, it wasn't even close.

In the first 1-0 win in franchise history, on January 13, 1976 vs. Detroit, Clark Gillies scored 6:49 into the first period; 27 Chico Resch saves later, the Isles had a 1-0 win.

That was the only time the only goal in a 1-0 Isles win had been scored in the first period...until tonight.

There have actually been more goals scored in overtime of 1-0 Isles wins (3) than in first periods.  Six have been scored in 2nd periods and six more in third periods.  The Isles have also won two 1-0 games, both against Philadelphia, in which neither team scored until the shootout.
