Brock Nelson scored two goals, Jordan Eberle recorded his 500th NHL point and Noah Dobson recorded his first NHL goals as the Isles rebounded from Monday's defeat for an 8-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings before a crowd 12,542 at Nassau Coliseum.

The Isles scored three goals in a 4:33 span of the first period, and then three more in a 4:10 span starting late in the period and continuing into the second period.  Thirteen players contributed points and seventeen players, led by Ryan Pulock's +4, were "+" players as the Isles scored eight times, all at even strength.
 
The homestand continues Thursday as the Isles welcome the Rangers to the Coliseum for the first time since 2015.

The Skinny      
Brock Nelson took over the team lead in goals (18) as he tallied twice; both he and Jordan Eberle (3-2-5) recorded their second consecutive two-point game.  It was the 13th multi-goal game of Nelson's career and 4th this season… In addition to Ryan Pulock's career-best +4, Nick Leddy and Devon Toews were both +3…The Isles, who scored eight goals for the first time under Barry Trotz, matched their all-time best total against Detroit (done four other times, but not since January 11, 1986)…The eight goals were also a season high against the Red Wings…Noah Dobson (20 years, 7 days) is the youngest Isles defenseman to score a goal since Mathieu Biron scored four goals as a 19-year-old in the 1999-2000 season; the first of those goals was scored before Noah was born.  Noah is the 376th player in Islander history to score a goal…Leo Komarov scored his first (regular season) goal since last January 20th), and recorded his first multi-point game since November 15, 2018 (vs NYR); Komarov now has 98 NHL assists…Josh Bailey stopped a 16-game scoreless streak and Anthony Beauvillier scored his first goal since December 14th…Mathew Barzal had a goal reversed by video review after it was ruled that the puck did not completely cross the goal line…The Isles remain three points behind Pittsburgh for 2nd place in the Metro Division; the Isles are the 5th NHL team to reach 60 points this season…Givani Smith also scored his first NHL goal…Dylan Larkin extended his point streak to seven games (2-5-7)…The Red Wings are 1-20 in games decided by three goals or more and are 0-11-0 vs. the Metropolitan Division…The Isles are 13-2-1 against the Atlantic Division…The Isles improve to 3-3-1 in January with four games to play; they have had a winning record in every month under Barry Trotz….With the four goal first period, the Isles have now outscored their opponents in each period…Ryan Pulock is +7 against Detroit (and +5 overall)…Jordan Eberle has scored three of his six goals vs. Detroit; of his 500 points he has recorded 251 at home and 249 on the road…Thomas Greiss, who recorded only one win in December, improved to 2-0 in January.  He has won consecutive starts for the first time since mid-November and now has 98 wins as an Islander…Barry Trotz recorded his 76th Islander victory, leaving his just one win behind Peter Laviolette for 4th place on the all-time team list.

This was only the second time in Isles history that they scored at least eight goals with no more than two points from any player. It also happened on January 3, 1981 vs. Hartford.

It's Good to be Home(s)
The Isles are 11-5-1 on Coliseum ice.  The Isles will play 28 of their 41 home games this season at the Coliseum.   The Isles are 4-0-2 at Barclays Center this season and have not lost in Brooklyn (regular season) since January 12, 2019 (9-0-2); their next Brooklyn game is on February 1st vs Vancouver.
