Kyle Palmieri had a goal and an assist as the Isles erased a 2-0 Blues lead and earned a 4-2 victory over before a crowd of 16,540 at UBS Arena.

Bo Horvat scored on a wrap-around in the opening minute of the third period and Mathew Barzal added the Isles' second empty-netter in three games for the final margin.

The Isles are 8-5-3 under Patrick Roy and 27-20-14 overall as they climb within four points of Philadelphia for third place in the Metro Division; they are also four points behind both Detroit and Tampa Bay in the Wild Card race. The Isles begin their four-game road trip in San Jose on Thursday.

The Skinny     
The Isles are 7-3-2 since the All-Star Break and have won three straight in regulation for the first time this season … Since Christmas, the Isles are 6-4-3 at home and 5-7-2 on the road; the Isles have won consecutive home games for the first time since January 11th- 21st …The Isles allowed the first goal for the first time in four games but the sixteenth time in the last 28 games.… The Isles' defense has 43 points during Patrick Roy (7-36-43) and have 33 points in the last 12 games (6-27-33)…The Isles have outscored their opponents 52-38 in the first period (tied with Florida for the fewest allowed), but have been outscored 82-63 in the second period (have allowed the most 2nd period goals in NHL) and 79-68 in the third period and overtime this season…The Isles have been outscored 44-24 in the second period since the Christmas break and have allowed at least two goals in 15 of the 28 games; only New Jersey has allowed more  2nd period goals over that span …The Isles are 7-18-5 when they allowed the opening goal …Mathew Barzal is now 19-46-65; his assists and points are his highest totals since his rookie season (22-63-85 in 2017-18). Kyle Palmieri recorded four goals in a two-game span for the first time since December 2018 (with New Jersey). His six points over the two games are a career best.
The Isles improved to 3-19-1 when trailing by two goals at any point, but they win in regulation for the first time since February 17, 2023, vs. Pittsburgh.

Milestone Men  
Brock Nelson is two goals away from his third consecutive 30-goal season, a feat last accomplished for the Islanders by Matt Moulson.
Mathew Barzal has 303 assists, one behind Bob Bourne for 11th in club history.

Dobson is the first Islander defenseman with at least 63 points since 1984-85 when Denis Potvin had 68, and the first with at least 56 assists since 1983-84, when Potvin recorded 63.

Dobson is on pace for 75 assists; Denis Potvin holds the club record for assists by a defenseman (70 in 1978-79). Dobson is on pace for 85 points, which would trail only three seasons by Potvin.

On the Farm  
Bridgeport completed a sweep of their weekend road trip with a 4-1 win on Sunday in Springfield. Four players, led by Michael Maggio scored goals and eight others added assists. Bridgeport is  18-29-6-1 on the season. 

The Baby Isles are off until Friday when they begin a 3-in-3 weekend in Springfield.

The teams split the season series 1 game to 1 (and 2 points to 2). 

The Isles are 6-1-1 in their last eight home games against St. Louis.

The Isles begin a four-game road trip with a trip to San Jose to face the Sharks.

The Isles will be looking to avenge a 5-4 overtime loss at UBS Arena back on December 5th as the Sharks scored three times in the final 8:05 to tie and then won the game on a William Eklund goal with seconds to play in overtime. 

The Isles are 3-0-4 in their last seven games against the Sharks (1-0-2 in San Jose).
