New roles for Poulin and Nabby?

Jack Capuano announced this morning that Kevin Poulin will make his second straight start tonight.

It's the first time that Poulin will make consecutive starts this season, and the first time that anyone other than Evgeni Nabokov has started consecutive games since Al Montoya started the final six games of the 2011-12 season.

Nabokov was shut down at the end of that 2011-12 season and was ill for a stretch in February 2012 when Montoya and Poulin started four straight games.

The last time Nabokov served as the healthy back-up in consecutive games: January 24 and 31, 2012 (games before and after the all-star game).

Poulin has made consecutive NHL starts only once in his career -- he started three straight games February 18-21, 2012:

2/18/12 -- beat Carolina 4-3
2/20/12 -- allowed 2 goals in first 1:35 and was pulled in 6-0 loss to Ottawa
2/21/12 -- lost to Buffalo 2-1 (Vanek scored the winning goal, in the second period)

Poulin has never started, and completed, consecutive games in his NHL career.  The only other time he came close was on February 5-8, 2011 when he beat Ottawa on February 5th and then suffered an injury in warmups before he was to face Toronto three days later.
