Casey Cizikas scored the game-winning goal with 2:12 to play as the Islanders broke a three-game winless streak and defeated the New Jersey Devils, 2-1, before a crowd of 12,122 at Barclays Center. The Isles played without Captain John Tavares for the 3rd straight game.

The Skinny:
Brock Nelson scored his first goal in 8 games to give the Isles a 1-0 lead… The Isles have scored only 7 goals over their last four games (1-1-2)…Casey Cizikas recorded his 23rd career goal. Five of the 23 have been game-winning goals – all scored in the third period, and all in games decided by a single goal…Travis Zajac's goal snapped a string of 29 consecutive penalty kills for the Islanders; it was only the 4th power play goal allowed by the Isles this year and only the 2nd 5-on-4 goal allowed all season…The Isles 4th line has been on the ice for three of the four goals the Isles have scored at even-strength in the last four games…The Isles have had only 18 seconds of power play time in the last two games, combined…The Isles won a game while scoring 2 goals or less (including shootout winners) for the first time this season (1-2-3), and snapped a 13-game winless streak (0-9-4) when scoring 2 goals or less (including shootout winners) dating back to a 2-1 win over Calgary on February 27th.

The Isles head to Montreal to face the Canadiens for the first time this season. Montreal swept the season series last year, winning the three games by a combined 12-6 score.
The Isles and Habs will play their entire season series in the next 2½ weeks. The teams will play in Brooklyn on November 20th and then in Montreal two nights later.
