If Nino makes the team, he will become the youngest player in Islander history.

David Chyzowski (7-11-1971) was 18 yrs, 105 days when he debuted on October 5,
1989 in Minnesota, against the North Stars. (Future Hall-of-Famer Mike Modano
also debuted in that game.)

Published reports at the time indicated that Chyzowski replaced Brent Sutter as
the youngest player in Isles history. Sutter (6-10-1962) was 18 years, 258 days

when he was recalled from Junior to play 3 games --the first being on February
25, 1981 in Calgary. (The only game in Isles history that they have allowed 11

goals)

The only other 18 year old to play for the Isles in the past 23 years is Tim
Connolly (5-7-1981), who was 18 yrs, 148 days when he debuted at Tampa on
October

2, 1999.

By comparison, John Tavares (9-20-1990) was an old man of 19 years, 13 days when
debuted last October 3rd against Pittsburgh.

If Nino(9-8-1992) plays on Opening Night, he would be 18 years, 31 days
--breaking Chyzowski's club record by 74 days. He would also become the
youngest player in the NHL since Jordan Staal debuted for Pittsburgh on October
5, 2006 -- at 18 years, 25 days. Staal didn't score his first NHL goal until a
week later --if

Niederreiter were to play, and score, on Saturday, he would do so one day
younger than Staal did.

Waiver wire news

Isles have claimed Michael Grabner (14th overall pick in 2006 and a 30 goal
scorer in AHL in 2008/09) from Florida . Split last season with Vancouver and
Manitoba, going 5-6-11 in 20 NHL games.

The Isles have waived Andy Hilbert.

Ex-Isle Jeff Tambellini was put on waivers today by the Canucks. Ex-Isle Dave
Scatchard cleared waivers and was assigned to Peoria by the Blues.

Stanley Cup champion New York Islanders return to MSG Plus (and MSG Plus 2 and
MSG 2) for 81 telecasts this season.  A complete schedule is below.

The Islanders open their regular season at home against the Dallas Stars on
Saturday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. on MSG Plus. MSG Plus will televise a half-hour
pre-game show, "Islanders Game Night," and most games will be followed by a
post-game show. The popular "Hockey Night Live!" weekly roundup show returns for
its fourth season on MSG and MSG Plus, airing after Saturday night games
throughout the season.

Howie Rose is serving his 16th season as play-by-play announcer with new
full-time analyst and Islanders legend Butch Goring. Deb Placey will return as
the home host/reporter and Rob Carlin will again handle the host/reporter duties
for Islanders road games. Stan Fischler will serve as a league correspondent for
all Islanders home games. Islanders hockey on MSG Plus is produced by Jim
Daddona, directed by Larry Roth, with Bob de Poto serving as senior coordinating
producer. Dan Ronayne serves as executive vice president and general manager for
MSG Networks, and Jeff Filippi is senior vice president and executive producer.

MSG Networks will continue its unprecedented commitment to the NHL, as MSG and
MSG Plus will combine to telecast more than 300 live Rangers, Devils, Islanders,
and Sabres games during the 2010-2011 hockey season.

Isles pre-season telecasts

While MSG is not scheduled to carry an Isles pre-season game, NHL Network will
have at least 2 -- one live and one on tape.

Wed, 9/29 New York Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers 7:00 PM LIVE
Wed, 9/29 Calgary Flames vs. New York Islanders (Saskatoon, SK) 4:00 AM *
(This is 4AM ET on Thursday, September 30)

The NHL's release also notes that NHL Network is supposed to cover the Isles
game in Quebec City against Montreal on October 2nd. However, that game is not
listed among the 35 games that will be shown on NHLNetwork US. With the Isles
also playing at home that night, it seems likely that most of the Islander stars
will play at LeColiseum and not at LeColisee (now the Colisee Pepsi).

MSG Tweets

He talked with Moulson today. Moulson told him the Isles rivalry with the
