Shane Prince and Brock Nelson scored 2:39 apart to break open a close game as the Isles surged to a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs before a crowd of 12,057 at Barclays Center.
Prince and Nelson each assisted on the other's goal as well, giving Prince back-to-back 2 point games.
The Isles welcomed Matt Martin back with a first period video tribute.

The Skinny

The homestand continues with the first meeting since last year's playoffs between the Islanders and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Bolts have lost three straight since opening 5-1-0, including a 6-1 defeat at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
This is the first of five Islander games to be televised nationally this season.  Rick Peckham and Brian Boucher will have the call of the game on NBCSN.

Sidney Crosby broke a 2-2 tie with a goal with 2:25 remaining and Phil Kessel added a power play goal 32 seconds later as the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins improved to 5-0-1 at home with a 4-2 win over the Islanders before a sellout crowd of 18,422 at the newly-renamed PPG Paints Arena.
 
Shane Prince had tied the game just 1:57 before Crosby's winning tally; Prince had points on both Islander goals.
 
The Isles will end October winless on the road (0-3-0); it's only the 2nd time in club history that they have opened 0-3-0 on the road (2006-07).
