Nikolay Kulemin broke a 2-2 tie in the third period with his 100^th career goal and the Islanders overcame a slow start for a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators before a crowd of 10,542 at Barclays Center.  The Isles have won two straight games and have earned points in all three games (2-0-1) in their new home. Thomas Greiss made a career-high 44 saves to improve to 2-0-1 on the season.

It's the most shots the Isles have allowed since December 10, 2013 in San Jose (48) and the most that they have allowed at home since January 11, 2011 vs. Vancouver (51).

 

It's the first time that the Isles have been outshot by at least 19 shots since that 2013 game in San Jose (48-28) and the first time it's happened at home since March 24, 2011 when Atlanta outshot them 34-15.

John Tavares scored a goal and added two assists for his 33^rd career 3+ point game as the Isles defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 before a crowd of 11,183 at Barclays Center.  It's the first win of the season for the Islanders and their first in their brand new home.

The Skinny

Thomas Greiss made 22 saves to record his first win as an Islander…Strome's goal gave the Isles their first lead of the season…Both Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey recorded 7 shots on goal; it tied a career high for Bailey, and was one shy of a career high for Nelson…Strome's power play goal was the Isles first since April 7^th in Philadelphia; they had gone 11 games (4 regular season and 7 playoff games) without a power play goal….The Isles have scored two power play goals in each of their last three games against Winnipeg.

The Penalty Shot

John Tavares was stopped on a penalty shot with 2:15 to play in the game.  It was the second penalty shot, both unsuccessful of his career.  It was the Isles' 4^th penalty shot against the Jets franchise; Michael Grabner in 2012 was the only one to score—the only Isles successful penalty shot at home in the last 15 years.

Flatbush's Finest

John Tavares, who scored the Isles' first-ever regular season goal at Barclay's Center on Friday, had the Isles' first penalty shot and first game-winning goal in this building today.

Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin each scored a goal and added two assists as the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Isles 4-1 before a sellout crowd of 21,392 at United Center. Trevor vanRiemsdyk recorded his first NHL goal for the Hawks; Cal Clutterbuck broke the shutout with a shorthanded goal at 18:55 of the third.
