Josh Bailey scored the lead goal and set-up Anders Lee for the eventual winning goal as the Isles extended their winning streak to five straight games with a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes before a crowd of 10,752 at the Nassau Coliseum.

Semyon Varlamov made 21 saves to earn his third straight win while Brock Nelson added two assists as the Isles earned their first October win streak of at least five games since 1982 (8 straight).

The Isles improved to 6-3-0.  It's the first time in four seasons that the Isles have earned at least twelve points in the first nine games.

The Skinny   
The Isles led after the first period for the second straight game (after not doing it in the first seven games) …The Isles had only one power play.  It's the sixth time this season they have had one power play or fewer, including each of the last five games (extending the franchise record). The Isles have had only 41 seconds of power play time over the last 2 ½ games …Cole Bardreau, playing his 2nd NHL game, won six of eight draws...Derick Brassard became the 374th player in Isles history to score a goal; it ended a streak of 222:37 in which Arizona had not trailed…The Isles became the first team to score three goals against Darcy Kuemper since Florida did so on March 21st; his 12-game streak was the longest in Coyote history…Brock Nelson had two assists, giving him 250 career points…Scott Mayfield's empty-netter was his 10th career goal, and his first since March 9th. …Phil Kessel played in his 783rd consecutive game (7th all-time).…The Isles won (just) over 60% of the draws, and losing over 60% of the draws in each of the last three games.

Winning Without Power Plays
The Isles have won five straight games, despite having only a total of four power plays (and no more than one in any game).  That ties the NHL record for consecutive wins while having one power play or less, done previously by Philadelphia in 1982-83.

Brock Nelson has been a fast starter during his NHL career.  His two points tonight make him 27-26-53 in 69 career October games, tallying more goals, assists and points than in any other month.

Brock Nelson scored his fourth career overtime goal and Thomas Greiss made 34 saves as the Isles  extended their winning streak to four straight games with a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets before a crowd of 15,276 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus.

Mathew Barzal extended his goal scoring streak to three games (four goals) as the Isles improved to 5-3-0.  It's the first time in four seasons that the Isles (5-3-0) have earned at least ten points in the first eight games.

The Skinny   
Mathew Barzal's first period goal was his first ever against Columbus (9th game); he is 4-2-6 in the last four games (+6) and is now tied with Brock Nelson for the club scoring lead … Michael Dal Colle tallied his first goal of the season (and 4th in 40 career NHL games)..The Isles led after the first period for the first time; both of their first period goals came at even-strength (their first even-strength goals in the first period since Devon Toews on opening night) …The Isles did not have a power play.  It's the five time this season they have had one power play or fewer, including each of the last four games. That sets the club record for consecutive games with one power play or fewer…Thomas Greiss recorded his 88th win as an Islander, tying Jaroslav Halak for 5th place on the all-time Isles list…The Isles held Cam Atkinson (14-12-26 in his career vs. the Isles) off the scoreboard…The Jackets are 2-0-2 in their last four, with all four games ending by a 3-2 score…The Isles are 4-2 in games decided vs. Columbus by an overtime goal, including a perfect 3-0 at Nationwide Arena…Former Islander season ticket holder Sonny Milano assisted on the first Columbus goal for his second career point against the Isles (1-1-2).

The Illness
Leo Komarov sat out the game with an Illness; he had played 91 consecutive games, including all 89 games the Isles have played since the start of last season.

The Debut
Komarov's illness opened the door for Cole Bardreau to make his NHL debut. Bardreau, who took the morning skate in Bridgeport, played 8:54 and had three hits in his first game.  The Fairport, NY native is 26 years old.  

Lots of Solo Skates
Bardreau is the third Islander to debut this month, joining Noah Dobson and Oliver Wahlstrom. It's the first time since 2005 that the Isles have had at least three players make their NHL debut in October (Chris Campoli, Robert Nilsson and Petteri Nokelainen all debuted on Opening Night that season; Kevin Colley debuted later that month).

Brock-tober
Brock Nelson has been a fast starter during his NHL career.  His two points tonight make him 27-24-51 in 68 career October games, tallying more goals and more points than in any other month (while the 24 assists match his career high).

...And Finally (Milestone Man)
This is the 600th consecutive (regular season and playoffs) edition of The Skinny, a streak that began in February 2012.  

The 600th consecutive regular season edition would be on January 4th vs. Toronto, while the 624th consecutive regular season edition would be on February 29th vs. Boston.  What's important about 624?  Billy Harris played in the first 623 regular season games in Isles history; no Islander has gotten close to that streak.

Mathew Barzal scored twice and Semyon Varlamov made 32 saves as the Isles extended their winning streak to three straight games with a 3-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets before a crowd of 15,063 at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg.

Josh Bailey added an empty net goal as the Isles completed a season sweep of the Jets and improve to 9-1-1 against the Jets since the franchise relocated to Winnipeg.

Mathew Barzal recorded his seventh career two-goal game; he now has six goals in six games vs. Winnipeg (more goals than he has scored against any other opponent); Barzal is 3-2-5 in the last three games (+5) and is now tied with Josh Bailey for the club scoring lead … The Jets did hold Anders Lee off the scoreboard, stopping the Isles' captain eight-game goal streak against Winnipeg; however, Lee did earn an assist on the game-winner which extended his point streak to 11 straight games against the Jets..…The Isles scored 16 seconds into their only power play, improving to 4-12 (33.3%) with the extra man this season…Semyon Varlamov recorded his 15th career win over the Jets, matching his career-best vs. any opponent (also 15 vs. Dallas).  He is 3-0-0 against the Jets in 2019, allowing one goal in each game (and only one even-strength goal total… The Isles have been outscored 8-3 in the first period; the Isles have scored only one even-strength goal in the first period (Devon Toews on opening night)…Paul Maurice failed to record his 700th career win for the third straight game…The Isles ended Mark Schiefele's three-game goal streak and five-game point streak…The Isles had only one power play for the fourth time this season and for the third consecutive game.  That ties the club record for consecutive games with one power play or fewer (done previously in 2013, 2018 and over two seasons in 2019)…Despite having only 12 attempts, the Isles have scored four power play goals over the first four games; they scored only three power play goals in the final 22 games last season.
