The Los Angeles Kings got goals from four different players in a span of just over 10 minutes of the second period as they defeated the Islanders 5-2 before a crowd of 15,989 at crypto.com Arena.  Pierre Engvall was credited with the game's first goal for the second straight game.

Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves in defeat.

The Isles fall to 34-27-8 as they head to Anaheim on Wednesday and San Jose on Saturday; they will have 11 games left after this trip – all against Eastern Conference foes. The Isles remain the second Wild Card; they remain two points behind Pittsburgh, but the Penguins have played two fewer games.  The Isles are three points ahead of Florida, who has two games in hand on the Isles.

TJ Oshie scored his sixth goal in the last eight games to break a 1-1 tie late in the first period and for the first time in over a month the third period belonged to the opposition as Washington scored three more times to defeat the Isles 5-1 before a sellout crowd of 17,255 at UBS Arena.   Pierre Engvall was credited with the game's first goal, and his first as an Islander, when he scored off a Capital on a delayed penalty.

On the Farm

Bridgeport completed their three-game series in Charlotte with a 7-1 loss on Friday and a 4-3 shootout win on Saturday. Ruslan Iskhakov had the deciding goal in the shootout as the Islanders overcame a three-goal third period from Charlotte.

Bridgeport is now 27-23-7-1 on the season and currently hold the last playoff spot in their division.  They are three points ahead of Hartford and are four points behind Lehigh Valley.

Andy Andreoff leads the team (and is tied-6th in the AHL) with 25 goals, while Chris Terry continues to lead in assists (38) and points (56); his 56 points are 8th in the AHL with his 37 assists are tied-6th. William Dufour has 19 goals, which is tied-6th among AHL rookies while All-Star Ruslan Iskhakov is 2nd among AHL rookies with 31 assists and leads all rookies with 45 points.

Bridgeport heads to Hartford on Wednesday and then hosts Syracuse on Friday and Hartford on Saturday.

Washington leads the season series, 2 games to 0 (and 4 points to 1).  The teams will meet in the District on March 29th and April 10th to complete the season series.

Brock Nelson scored 2:13 into overtime to complete a comeback from a late-3rd pd two-goal deficit as the Isles completed a sweep of the season series with a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins before a crowd of 17,557 at PPG Paints Arena.   Hudson Fasching and Anders Lee scored in the final 5:29, with Lee's second goal of the night becoming the first tying goal the Isles have scored with a 6th attacker this season.

Ilya Sorokin made 33 saves as he improved to 6-1-1 over his last eight decisions; Sorokin was also credited with his first career point on the Nelson overtime goal.

The Isles improve to 34-25-8 and head home to face Washington on Saturday before beginning a three-game California trip. The Isles retained the 1st Wild Card spot; they are two points ahead of Pittsburgh and six points ahead of Florida.  The Penguins have three games in hand and the Panthers have two.

On the Farm

Bridgeport opened a three-game series in Charlotte with a 3-2 win on Wednesday. Arnaud Durandeau, Grant Hutton and Andy Andreoff scored for Bridgeport while Chris Terry had a pair of assists.  40 saves from Cory Schneider preserved the win.  

Bridgeport is now 26-22-7-1 on the season and currently hold the last playoff spot in their division.  They are two points ahead of Hartford and only two points behind Lehigh Valley.

Andy Andreoff leads the team (and is tied-8th in the AHL) with 24 goals, while Chris Terry continues to lead in assists (37) and points (54); his 54 points are tied-10th in the AHL with his 37 assists are tied-7th. William Dufour has 19 goals, which is tied-6th among AHL rookies while All-Star Ruslan Iskhakov is 3rd  among AHL rookies with 30 assists and is tied for the rookie point lead with 44 points.

Bridgeport will also play on Friday and Saturday night in Charlotte.

Season Series Stats

The Isles sweep the season series, 4 games to 0 (and 8 points to 1).  It is the first time the Isles have ever swept the Penguins in a season series.

Anders Lee scored seven goals in the season series – the most by an Islander since Pat LaFontaine (9) in 1989-90.

The Isles outscored the Pens, 18-10, using third period rallies to win each of the last three games.

The Isles have not yet been to DC, but will play in the District on March 29th and April 10th (in their final road game of the regular season).

Hudson Fasching deflected home the winning goal with 12:23 to play as the Isles earned a key 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres before a sellout crowd of 17,255 at UBS Arena.   Dylan Cozens and Casey Cizikas traded second period goals while Josh Bailey and Kyle Okposo traded goals in the third period before Fasching's winner was awarded after video review.

Ilya Sorokin made 22 saves for the victory as he improved to 5-1-1 over his last seven decisions.

The Isles improve to 33-25-8 and visit Pittsburgh on Thursday as they look to sweep the season series from the Pens. The Isles retained the 1st Wild Card spot; they are one point ahead of Pittsburgh and four points ahead of Florida.  The Penguins have three games in hand and the Panthers have one.

Bridgeport is 25-22-7-1 on the season after splitting a pair of home shutouts over the weekend.  Hartford beat the Isles 9-0, but the Baby Isles rebounded the following day for a 3-0 victory over Springfield.

Ilya Sorokin, playing in front of his father for the first time in the NHL, made 22 saves for the victory.

On the Farm

Bridgeport improved to 24-21-7-1 on the season and 2-2-0-0 on their season-long six game home stand with a 7-1 victory over Providence on Thursday. Andy Andreoff scored twice, and Ruslan Iskhakov added three points as the Islanders scored five times in the third period to break open a close game.

Andreoff leads the team with 22 goals, while Chris Terry continues to lead in assists (34) and points (51). William Dufour has 19 goals, which is tied-3rd among AHL rookies while All-Star Ruslan Iskhakov is 3rd  among AHL rookies with 29 assists and leads all rookies with 43 points (thru Thursday).

Bridgeport hosts Hartford on Saturday night and Springfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Isles look to go eight games over NHL-.500 for the first time this season when the welcome the Buffalo Sabres to UBS Arena for a key matchup in the Wild Card race.  

Buffalo defeated Tampa Bay on Saturday to remain four points behind the Isles; the Sabres will host Edmonton on Monday before arriving on Long Island.

This is the middle game of the season series; Buffalo defeated the Isles 3-2 in overtime back on January 19th in Buffalo; the teams will also meet on March 25th at UBS.

This game will be streamed nationally by ESPN+; Mike Monaco, Cassie Campbell-Pascal and Dominic Moore will have the call.
