Stat Trick - Mannino errata

The DiPietro reference below is incorrect.  That was Ricky's first win after spending a season and a half in the minors,  but he made his debut on January 27, 2001 in a 2-1 loss to Buffalo.  Ricky's first NHL win came on February 16, 2001 vs.Edmonton.

You have to go back to the 1999-2000 season to find an Islander goalie who won his first NHL start.  That season, Roberto Luongo defeated Boston, 2-1 on November 28,1999 and Stephen Valiquette beat Atlanta 4-2 on March 16, 2000 (9 years ago today).  Thus, Valiquette was the most recent Isles goalie to win his first NHL start (as an Islander).

<<Vs. Chicago

2.  Mannino is the first Islander goalie to win his first NHL start since Rick DiPietro (12/19/02 vs Minnesota).>>

Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since 1982.

Hey Eric.
Question for you.
I was using the media guide yesterday to see who the last defenseman was to record a hat trick for the islanders, and since I'm a relative neophyte, I couldn't really tell by just the names. how come they didn't put their position next to their names in the Media Guide? Do you know?

Also, nice job on PB. Your hit count will skyrocket and your information is well worth the double-click!

It's Potvin (3/4/1982). No Islander defensemen not named Potvin has ever had a hat trick (Jean had 1; Denis had 5)
