The Skinny never stops....

Two gems on last night's Isles win, with full credit to the geniuses at Elias....

Islanders grow in the Garden
From Elias: The Islanders ended their eight-game winless streak at Madison Square Garden with a 4-3 shootout victory in a game in which they trailed, 2-0, at the end of the first period. It was the first time that the Islanders overcame a two-goal deficit to beat the Rangers on the road since their 4-3 win at MSG on April 7, 1995. Travis Green scored two goals for the Islanders in that game and the winning goal was scored by Ron Sutter.

(From Eric: I remember this game well. It was played the day after the Isles traded Pierre Turgeon to Montreal in the ill-fated Kirk Muller trade.)

Tavares is streaking on the road
From Elias: John Tavares scored a goal for the Islanders in their 4-3 shootout win over the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Tavares has scored six goals in the Islanders' last five road games with at least one goal in each game. He's only the second Islanders player in the last 16 years to score goals in each of five consecutive team road games. Matt Moulson had a five-game road goal-scoring streak for the Isles last season (Nov. 26-Dec. 13, 2011).

(From Eric: The last before Moulson appears to be Ziggy Palffy, who also scored in five consecutive team road games from February 29-March 16, 1996.)
