Isles have scored 36 of their 67 goals in the second period, but have been outscored 27-15 in the third period… The Isles have been outscored 20-6 in the third period of the last 15 games… The Jets scored three goals in a period for the first time on the road this season… The Isles are 4-9-0 in November, with two games to play.  The Isles have not had a winning November since 2008 and are 9-23-5 in their last three Novembers (2010, 2011, and 2013)…This was the 16th time in the last 19 years that the Isles have hosted a Thanksgiving Eve game (there was no NHL hockey played in two of the other three years).  The Isles are 0-4-2 in their last six Thanksgiving Eve games but are 6-6-5 all-time at home on Thanksgiving Eve…Winnipeg is 7-5-4 in one-goal games while the Isles are 5-8-3.

The Shots:
Isles    13-7-10=30
Jets     11-11-7=29

Home and Road
The Islanders are 8-14-3 overall, 5-5-3 at home and 3-9-0 on the road.  The Isles are 6 games under NHL-.500 for the first time since December 26, 2011 (11-17-6).
The Jets are 12-11-4 overall; they are 8-6-3 at home and 4-5-1 on the road.  Winnipeg has won two straight and is 6-2-2 in their last 10.

In the Nets
Kevin Poulin made 26 saves but falls to 3-9-0 on the season.
Former Islander Al Montoya made 29 saves for the Jets and improves to 3-2-1 on the season.  He is now 2-0-0 in his career against the Isles.

Power Plays
The Islanders were 1-4 while the Jets were 0-2.  It's the first time in six games that the Isles have not allowed a power play goal.
The Isles are 5-3-3 when they score at least one power play goal and 3-11-0 when they do not.  The Isles are 2-11-2 when they allow at least one power play goal and 6-3-1 when they do not.
Over the last 15 games, the Isles power play is 5-56 (8.9%) while the penalty kill is 18-47 (61.7%).

Three is a Magic Number
The Isles are 8-2-2 when they score at least three goals and are 0-12-1 when they do not.

Helps to Score First
The Isles are 6-2-3 when they score first and are 2-12-0 when they allow the opening goal.  The Isles have allowed the first two goals in four straight games and have trailed 3-0 in the last two games.

They Said It
John Tavares:  "You have to go out there and want the puck more than the guy you are up against.  … We need more of everyone having that mindset."

The Coach
"When the guys battle, it's tough.  We made a couple of key mistakes…. It's frustrating for those guys right now …we have to find a way."

Back-to-Backs
The Isles are 3-3-0 in the front-end and 1-4-1 on the back end of back-to-backs this season.
On the six back-to-backs, they have earned 4 points once, 3 points once, 2 points once, and no points on three occasions.
The next back-to-back set will feature a rare set of two home games: Friday vs. Detroit and Saturday vs. Washington.

Head of the Class
John Tavares has 278 career points; he is 65 points ahead of Matt Duchene for most among 2009 draft picks.  No other player from that draft is anywhere close.  Tavares also has more goals and more assists than any other player from that draft.

Leading Ice Men
Andrew MacDonald played 30:16 to lead the Isles for the 19th time this season.  Dustin Byfuglien played 25:42 to lead the Jets; he had four shots on goal and leads all NHL defensemen with 91.
It's the 5th time MacDonald has played at least thirty minutes. Only Ryan Suter (12 times) and Erik Karlsson (8 times) have done so more often.  Ice-time has been an official stat since the late 90's; since then the club record for playing 30+ minutes in a season is 30 times, by Adrian Aucoin in 2001-02.
The Isles are 7-10-2 when MacDonald leads them in ice-time and 1-4-1 when Hamonic leads them.

In the Circle
The Islanders won 25 of 54 draws.  John Tavares won 10 of 19 but the rest of the Islanders won only 15 of 35. James Wright won 6 of 10 for Winnipeg, including a draw that directly led to the first goal of the game.
The Isles have won less than 50% of the face-offs in ten straight games.

Heavy Hitters
The Isles were out-hit 20-19. Cal Clutterbuck led the Isles with six hits while Matt Martin added five hits, extending his NHL-leading total to 123.
There were no fights in the game, leaving the season total at eight: Martin (3), Boulton (3), and Carkner (2).

Giving Up the Body
The Isles were credited with 17 blocked shots. Andrew MacDonald extended his league-leading total to 92 with three blocks; Matt Donovan was also credited with three.

All–time Winners
The Islanders fall to three games over all-time NHL .500 (1379-1376-442 in 3,197 games).  The Isles have finished every season since 1977-78 above all-time NHL .500.

Ironmen
John Tavares is the reigning Islanders' ironman. Tavares has now played in 232 consecutive games, which is the second-longest streak for an Islander in the Post Cup era.
Frans Nielsen (155) and Kyle Okposo (138) also have streaks of at least 100 consecutive games.
