Shoulda made The Skinny...

Here's a crazy Nielsen shootout number.

102 active NHL players have at least 24 attempts.  Nielsen (25/40, 62.5%) is the only player has scored on over 50% of his opportunities.
MIchael Handzus (19/38) and Tyler Oshie (18/36) are at exactly 50%.

Nielsen could miss his next nine attempts and still be over 50%.

At 62.5%, Nielsen is #1 all-time (greater than 12 attempts).

Elias notes today that Nielsen is 9-last 11 (81.8%) and is "the only player (in shootout history) with 20 or more shootout attempts who's scored at least 60 percent of the time (25 of 40, 62.5%)."

To put Nielsen's numbers in perspective, the league-wide conversion rate in shootouts is 36.6% (highest since shootout was introduced).  The all-time conversion rate is 32.8%.
