It Happened at the Coliseum … on NOVEMBER 4th

39 years ago tonight (1975) – Jean-Paul Parise scored three goals and added an assist as the Islanders beat the California Golden Seals 5-3.  Captain Ed Westfall added a shorthanded goal and an assist for the Isles, who improved to 7-1-4 on the season.  Both Denis and Jean Potvin each had two assists; Denis also added a goal.

It was the first (and only) NHL hat trick for Parise, who was playing in his 606th NHL game. Chico Resch made 21 saves and also earned his first career assist.

Parise is currently battling lung cancer, as detailed in this brilliant story by Long Island native Michael Russo, who covers the Wild (and Parise's son Zach), for the Star Tribune.

Also on this date: (1991) – Steve Thomas scored two goals and added two assists as the Isles beat Boston 6-4.  Pierre Turgeon added two goals of his own, and an assist.

All-time, the Isles have played ten November 4th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 7-3-0 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
