It Happened at the Coliseum … on NOVEMBER 15th

31 years ago tonight (1983) – Mike Bossy recorded his third hat trick of the season to help power the Isles to a 6-4 win over the Hartford Whalers.  Bossy added two assists to mirror the two goals, three assists contribution from linemate Bryan Trottier.  It easily could have been 2 ½ goals each, as Trottier was originally credited with the game’s final goal, but it was later changed to Bossy. Trottier told Newsday’s Tim Moriarty: “I looked at the replay and you really couldn’t tell (whether Trottier’s shot had gone in before Bossy made sure it did)…Mike doesn’t lie.  They should give it to him.”  Eventually they did.

Bossy (L) & Trottier shared the podium on Bob Bourne's Hall of Fame night

Also on this date: (2008) – Joey MacDonald made 38 saves and Chris Campoli had the winning goal as the Isles  built a 3-0 lead and held on to beat Ottawa 3-2, giving the Islanders a sweep of the home-and-home series between the teams.

Highlights of that 2008 win:

All-time, the Isles have played eight November 15th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 4-3-1 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
