Peter J. Schmitt passes away

From Newsday:

 "Peter J. Schmitt, presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature, died of a heart attack Wednesday, county officials said.Schmitt, 62, a Massapequa Republican, had the attack during a meeting in County Executive Edward Mangano's office, officials said.'
